Minn Kota have been one of the leading manufacturers of electric trolling motors for years, with their experience and quality product range it makes them the obvious choice.

The Minn Kota range of Riptide trolling motors (Minn Kota Riptide 40, Minn Kota Riptide 50, Minn Kota Riptide 55 and bigger ) have a number of features that make them ideal for use in the harsh saltwater environment (please see the specifications tab for details). These in clude a tilting twist tiller, fully encapsualted electronics and advanced corrosion protection. They make an excellent replacement for a small outboard used in sheltered coastal waters.

The MinnKota range are designed to run off suitable deep cycle leisure batteries. A deep cycle battery is engineered to withstand full discharge without damage, and to provide a consistent level of 12v power discharge to allow you to get the most out of your electric outboard (or other 12v appliance). How long the battery will last is directly proportional to the speed you are running the motor at, a good tip is to take two small batteries rather than one large one, then at least you know you should be able to make the return journey if you are caught unawares!.

The Minn Kota Riptide 40 is a lively 12v outboard suitable for use on salt water. Its power range is suitable for small boats upto 17 feet in length, anything larger and we recommend you look further up the Minn Kota electric thruster range.
